Join ExCEL NC and the Southwestern Commission Council of Governments for our Child Care Economic Summit to explore the economic impact of the child care crisis and how business leaders can drive solutions.
Child care issues costs the region served by the Southwestern Commission more than $46.5 million per year, including $35.8 million in lost business activity, $5.6 million in lost state tax, and $5 million in local tax revenue. In 2025, the Southwestern Commission’s region also experienced a net loss of 300 child care slots, and 7,900 workers experienced disruptive child care challenges.
This is not how we set the region’s children, families, and businesses up for success. ExCEL NC is looking to change that.
