ExCEL NC, the Durham Chamber of Commerce, and the Research Triangle Foundation of NC are hosting the RTP Business Leader Roundtable to explore the economic impact of the childcare crisis and how business leaders can drive solutions.
Right now, childcare-related employee turnover and absenteeism costs North Carolina’s employers $4.29 billion every year. What’s more: our state is missing out on an additional $1.36 billion annually in tax revenue because of the lack of affordable and accessible childcare options. Together, this means that the childcare crisis is costing North Carolina more than $5.65 billion per year in economic activity.
This is not how we set our state, our businesses, and our children up for success. ExCEL NC is looking to change that.
At this event, we’ll tackle this issue head-on. Attendees will be joined by other business leaders in the Research Triangle to discuss the economic and workforce impacts of the child care crisis, possible public policy solutions, and how the business community can drive statewide change.
We look forward to exploring the intersection of business, family, and early childhood education — and discuss how North Carolina can move toward a stronger, more sustainable future.
